At 9am this Sunday, we will gather on the steps of St. Francis for the Liturgy of the Palms and will process into the sanctuary.

Godly Play will be offered at Bend Montessori School at 524 NW Lava (just two doors down!). Please bring children aged 3-8 through the double red doors (really!) and sign them in at 8:45. Children will be brought to you in the service in time for Communion.

Coffee Hour after the service will be held at the Oxford Hotel. They have graciously offered the use of their facility at no charge to Trinity. Please be sure to thank them!

New Church Office Location

Trinity’s “Command Central” is back on the Trinity campus! Many thanks again
to the Deschutes Public Library for giving us use of their Administration Building conference
room for a week. That was awesome!

Those looking for the church office, it is in the room next to Father Roy’s
(the “Quest” room). At this time, we request that folks don’t just “stop
by”, as it is still quite disorganized and there is a lot to do! We feel
your love. If need be, just give a call to the church line 541.382.5542 if
you’d like to check in for any reason.

Service Time Change! Godly Play and Coffee Hour

Until further notice, our single worship service on Sunday mornings will be
held at the old St. Francis Church at Lava and Franklin (494 NW Lava) at
9am.

Fire Update – And Some Good News!

This morning we were finally able to get into the area in Trinity that was most severely damaged by the fire.

There is good news! The contents of both the Sacristy and Altar Guild room were untouched by fire. The contents in cabinets in the Altar Guild room have smoke residue but everything appears to be recoverable.

In the Sacristy the vestments in the flat file drawers have very little damage and most of the vestments hanging in the closet (including Roy’s personal vestments) have light smoke damage but appear to be recoverable.

The large room in the basement were AA meets and the choir has it’s robes has sever water damage. However the cabinet were the choir robes are located was high enough above water that it appears that all of the robes are recoverable.

The fire damage to the chapel, library, and nursery is as bad as you have probably imagined – we will post pictures to the website this evening.

We have a dedicated team doing everything in their power to make sure the congregation is informed as we work through the many moving parts of this new reality. DST and Fire Report

Remember that daylight savings time starts tomorrow – set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed!

In regard to the fire, our security contractor has finished securing the buildings and is providing 24/7 security at the sight. Your Vestry had an emergency meeting this afternoon and had an very brief oppurtunity to visit the Sanctuary in St Helen Hall. We will not be able to provide any more information until sometime Monday when hopefully the city will complete it’s examination of the integrity of the stairs going up to the choir loft in St Helens.

Fire Update – Inside the Buildings

At about 2:30 this afternoon, the Trinity staff was allowed in to Trinity Hall and St Helen’s Hall to assess the damage and to retrieve a few items.

In Trinity Hall the most surprising was the amount of water, soot, glass and other debris in Brooks Hall, the kitchen and the office area. We saw the most damaged area, the west wing, and that is the most structurally unsound. We were not allowed to walk through there, just to peek around. Thankfully, the Sanctuary is only water and debris damaged, with no sign of direct fire damage.

In St. Helen’s Hall, the offices, Family Kitchen, the Fireside Room, and Godly Play classrooms are all perfectly fine. The fire damage there is to the choir loft, including the organ, choir pews, and rafters. The heat from the fire there damaged the light fixtures, ceiling, windows in the rest of the Sanctuary and water and debris damage is throughout. Happily, the banners were mostly all stored in an area that was closed off.

Power and gas have been restored to the north wing of St. Helen’s Hall. We should be able to use those rooms by early next week.

Sunday’s liturgy – additional information

if you know anyone who does not have internet access or email, please pass this information on to them.

Our only liturgy on Sunday will be held at the First Methodist church at 9am. First Methodist is located one block east and north of Trinity at 680 NW Bond. To add to the confusion this is the weekend that we have to set our clocks forward one hour for daylight savings time.

Since there will be two services going on at the same time, First Methodist asks that anyone who is physically able not park in their parking lot so that those with limited mobility will not have to park far away.

Thursday Morning Update

Last night temporary power was supplied to the refrigerators and freezers in family kitchen, apparently some food was lost in the refrigerator but apparently all was well with the frozen food. Also, Mark and Jan were able to go upstairs in St helens, not in the fire area, and Mark says that at least there he could detect little smoke damage.

We are still not allowed into Trinity or the sanctuary area of St. Helens.
