WELCOME OUR NEW RECTOR,
THE REV. CHRISTY CLOSE ERSKINE
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
There aren't words to describe how excited I am to be called to join you in ministry as the next Rector of Trinity, Bend. The very first time that I read your parish profile, I resonated with your sense of wanting to reach out with God's love to each other and to the world. Throughout the search process, every time I interacted with someone from your church community I came away impressed by the people. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you and your stories. I'm also eager to have you help me learn about your wonderful community. I believe that God has called us together at this particular time and I look forward to journeying with you as we continue to do the work that God has given us to do!
Faithfully,
Christy

A short bio from Christy:
I'm married to Jack Erskine, who is also an Episcopal priest. He's been a stay at home dad since our youngest was born. We have three children, Eliza, currently a sophomore at Boston University, Sophie, a junior at Union High School in Vancouver, and Joshua, a 4th grader at Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary School. We love outdoor adventures, watching movies, traveling, reading, and spending time together as a family.
I'm a northwest kid, having grown up on Mercer Island, WA, near Seattle. I'm the youngest of six children and until moving to Vancouver, I spent most of my adult life in the Seattle/Tacoma area, with a few years in Alaska. I originally graduated from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, as an Occupational Therapist. Later, I went to the University of Washington to get my MBA. (Yes, you may be sorry to hear, I am a Husky!) I worked for many years in health care management before my call to ordained ministry. I went to seminary at Yale Divinity School, was ordained in 1994, and have been the Associate at Church of the Good Shepherd in Vancouver ever since.
